Inertia Sport gets a new knucklehead
El Hefe and I were hanging out the other night, working on his SN95 Cobra (head gaskets went kaput), drinking iced teas, and he mentioned that he hasn’t updated Inertia Sport for some time, and if I’d be interested in carrying on in type like I do in speech. I figured, what the heck, perhaps it’ll be a good outlet for all this angst stored up inside. I thought I may be able to contribute something more tangible than the current steaming piles of crap that pass as discussions.
I’ve been living in Florida for at least a decade. Came here from “out west” by choice…and my employer transferred me here.
I’ve owned a plethora of cars; from old muscle cars (66 GTO post coupe, 67 Firebird with a 455), shitboxes that transported me to/from school and work (Datsun B210, Tercel hatch, Bonneville, list goes on), then back to sportier cars destined for open track and street duty (Fox body Mustang hatchback, NA supercharged then turbocharged Miata). Somewhere along the line I burned out on constantly having a car on jackstands, and driving the wife’s car, so I put the Mustang back together and sold it, then parted out the Miata. That left me with a nice chunk of change, so I put some away in long term investments, and the rest as a down payment on a 2007 Cadillac CTS-V.
Since owning the CTS-V, and swearing off tinkering with anything running fossil fuels, I’ve slowly crept back to the crack pipe that is motorsports. Whether it be helping the gang with their rides, going to an event to just watch and meet people, or reading my favorite monthly publication Grassroots Motorsports. Some of us recently bought a pile of poo Fox body Mustang convertible to run in the 24 Hours of LeMons and Chump Car series. We’ve done one event so far, and what a learning experience. I realize now that I was one of those guys who knew just enough to be dangerous, but running a car for 24 hours wheel to wheel with other people who are faster and better than me was a hell of an eye opener.
Now I have an outlet for my frustrations, I hope to provide some humor and perhaps useful information. You can either enjoy it, or SUCK IT and go somewhere else. I’m sure Al Gore’s Interwebz has a nice porn site you’ve been dying to see.
